Afrikaans

Afrikaans is ‘n verpligte vak vir alle leerders. Seuns in die Afrikaanse klasse sal dit uit die aard van die saak as hul Huistaal neem, terwyl seuns in die Engelse klasse dit as hul Eerste Addisionele Taal sal neem.

AFRIKAANS HUISTAAL​

  • Die slaagsyfer vir Afrikaans Huistaal is 40% (in grade 10-12).
  • Dit is baie belangrik dat u, as ouers, die skool sal ondersteun deur te verseker dat leerders lees en studeer by die huis, sodat hul kommunikasievaardighede en punte kan verbeter.
  • Die Huistaal-sillabus sluit die volgende komponente in:  

                            Luister en Praat

                           Lees en Kyk (begrip/voorgeskrewe)

                           Skryf en aanbied (stelwerk)

                           Taalstrukture en -konvensies

  • Dit moet onthou word dat ‘n seun die graad sal druip wanneer hy die Huistaal druip.
  • Afrikaans Huistaal kan inderdaad as ‘n leervak beskou word, spesifiek met verwysing na die voorgeskrewe werk!

AFRIKAANS EERSTE ADDISIONELE TAAL​

Die volgende inligting is van toepassing:

  • Dit is ‘n verpligte vak vir alle Engelssprekende leerders.
  • Afrikaans is medium van aanbieding.
  • Afrikaans Eerste Addisionele Taal kan beskou word as ‘n leervak, veral wanneer gekyk word na die Letterkunde-komponent.
  • Die vereiste slaagpersentasie is 30% (Grade 10 – 12)
  • Dis van kardinale belang dat ouers seker maak dat leerders by die huis lees en leer om Afrikaans magtig te word.
  • Areas wat gedek word sluit die volgende in:
  1. Luister en Praat
  2. Lees, kyk en verstaan
  3. Skryf en aanbieding
  4. Voorgeskrewe literatuur
  5. Taalstrukture en -konvensies
  6.  

Afrikaans is a compulsory subject for all learners. Learners in the Afrikaans classes have to take this as their Home Language, while boys in the English classes have to take this as First Additional Language.

AFRIKAANS HOME LANGUAGE​

  • The pass rate for Afrikaans Home Language is 40% (in Grades 10-12).
  • It should be kept in mind that a learner will fail his grade should he fail Home Language.
  • It is extremely important that you, as parents, support us by ensuring that learners read and study at home, in order to improve their communication skills and their marks.
  • The Home Language syllabus consists of the following components:  

                        Listening and speaking
                        Reading and interpreting (comprehension/prescribed)
                        Writing and presentation (essays)
                        Language structures and conventions

  • Afrikaans Home Language can indeed be regarded as a learning subject, especially as concerns     the prescribed work.

AFRIKAANS FIRST ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE​

  • This subject is compulsory for all learners in the English classes.
  • Afrikaans is the language of instruction for these learners.
  • Afrikaans First Additional Language should be regarded as a learning subject, especially as concerns the literature component.
  • The required pass percentage is 30% (Grades 10 – 12)
  • It is of critical importance that parents ensure that learners read and thus learn Afrikaans at home to enable them to master this subject.
  • Areas to be covered include the following:
  1. Listening and speaking
  2. Reading, analysing and comprehension
  3. Writing and presentation
  4. Prescribed literature
  5. Language structures and conventions
