Rekenaar Toepassings Tegnologie | Computer Applications Technology

Rekenaar Toepassings Tegnologie (RTT of CAT) is ‘n relatief nuwe vak.

Computer Applications Technology (CAT) is a relatively new subject.  It originates from/ is a subset of the broader knowledge domain of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). ICTs are the combination of networks, hardware and software as well as the means of communication, collaboration and engagement that enable the processing, management and exchange of data, information and knowledge.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

CAT concentrates on productive applications in an office environment, such as the proper use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and the effective use of an operating system such as Windows.

There is also a theoretical component, focusing on a number of ICTs (for example networks, the internet, information management and systems technology).

CAT as a subject for university exemption:

It should be noted that CAT is now also on the list of designated subjects, and will therefore be taken into account as one of the FOUR subjects where a learner must achieve 50% or more to qualify for a Bachelor’s Pass. CAT will also be taken into account when the TP score is calculated.
